The heart of Street to Kitchen
Our Story
She learned to cook in her grandmother's kitchen in North Central Thailand.
Chef Benchawan grew up watching her grandmother run a neighborhood restaurant — learning techniques that have been passed down for generations. Not from a textbook. Not from culinary school. From hands that had been cooking the same dishes the same way for decades.
She moved to Houston with her husband Graham. She never forgot where she came from. Street to Kitchen was built around one unapologetic philosophy: this is Thai food the way Thais make it. No fusion. No shortcuts. No watered-down versions designed to play it safe.
Five years in, the food world took notice. Michelin Guide recognition. A StarChefs Rising Star nomination. OpenTable Icon status. Named one of the best restaurants in Houston by every publication that matters — and one of Marco Beteta's favorite restaurants in the world.
Street to Kitchen is not inspired by Thai food. It is Thai food. And it is Halal certified — because being authentic doesn't mean being exclusive.
"We'll never apologize about where we come from. You shouldn't either."— Street to Kitchen
